Standard Process

Nutrition Innovation Center

Where whole-food nutrition is studied.

Our research facility is dedicated to a single question: how do whole foods nourish the body? It's where Standard Process examines the science behind every whole-food supplement we make.

What it is

A facility built to advance whole-food nutrition science.

The Nutrition Innovation Center is Standard Process's dedicated research facility — a place set aside for the study of whole-food nutrition and the science that underpins our whole-food supplements.

It exists because the work that began nearly a century ago was never meant to stand still. Whole foods are complex, and understanding them well takes patient, ongoing inquiry. The Center gives that inquiry a home.

Here, research informs product development and supports the quality science behind our formulas — so that what a practitioner recommends is grounded in study, not assumption.

“The better we understand whole foods, the better we can keep their nutrition intact — from the soil to the supplement.”
The work of the Nutrition Innovation Center

Farm to laboratory

Research that connects how food is grown to how it nourishes.

Most nutrition research begins with a finished product. Ours can begin in a field. Because Standard Process grows many of its own ingredients on certified-organic farmland, the Center is able to study the full path a nutrient travels — starting with the soil it grew in.

That connection between farm and laboratory is what makes the work here distinctive. Research explores how foods, soil, and agriculture relate to nutrition — questions that are difficult to ask when ingredients pass through a chain of outside suppliers, and natural to ask when you raise them yourself.

Areas of focus

What the Center studies.

The Center's work spans the whole journey of a whole-food ingredient — from the ground it's grown in to the testing that confirms the quality of a finished supplement.

Ingredient science

We study the plants and whole foods that go into our supplements — exploring how their natural nutrient complexes are composed and how they hold up from harvest through manufacturing.

Soil & agriculture

Nutrition begins in the ground. Research here looks at how growing practices and soil health relate to the nutritional character of the crops we raise on our own farm.

Whole-food processing

We examine the gentle methods used to turn whole foods into supplements, with the goal of keeping the natural nutrient complex intact rather than reducing it to isolated parts.

Product quality & testing

The Center supports the analytical work behind every formula — the methods, measurements, and validation that help confirm a product is what it should be.

Rigor & quality

The scientific standards behind every product.

Quality isn't a final inspection — it's a discipline carried through every stage. The Center supports the testing and scientific standards that help ensure a Standard Process product is consistent, well understood, and made the way it was intended.

01

Tested, then tested again

Ingredients and finished products move through analytical testing at multiple points — a layered process designed to verify identity, consistency, and quality before anything reaches a practitioner.

02

Science you can trace

Because we grow, harvest, and manufacture under one roof, our research can follow an ingredient from the field it was grown in to the bottle it ends up in.

03

Methods that keep improving

Quality science is never finished. The Center continually refines its testing approaches so our understanding of each whole-food complex grows sharper over time.

Advancing the science

Carrying the founder's research mission forward.

Dr. Royal Lee was, above all, a researcher — convinced there was more to learn about how whole foods nourish the body. The Nutrition Innovation Center continues that work, deepening the science of whole-food nutrition for the practitioners and patients who depend on it. The questions have grown more refined. The mission has not changed.
